FEAST Global: Your Trusted Partner for USDA Emerging Markets Programs
FEAST Global Tapped to Complete Georgia’s Emerging Market Program in India
At FEAST Global, we pride ourselves on our ability to conduct comprehensive market analysis and strategic planning that drives successful export initiatives. Recently, we were honored to be selected by the Georgia Department of Agriculture to complete an Emerging Markets Project aimed at exploring new opportunities for exports of U.S. and Georgia-grown pecans in India. This project exemplifies our expertise and dedication to helping commodity groups capitalize on USDA Emerging Market Program grant funds.
Project Overview: Georgia Pecans in Emerging Markets
The awarded project titled “Assessment of Markets for Promoting Exports of U.S. and Georgia Grown Pecans,” focuses on evaluating the demand and market potential for Georgia pecans in India and five key Southeast Asian markets: Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. Our goal is to uncover opportunities for Georgia pecan export sales in India and recommend follow-up technical assistance or market promotion activities based on project findings across all included markets.
Our task was centered on India, a market that has recently reduced tariffs on American pecans, making it an opportune time to explore new partnerships.
Engaging the Georgia Pecan Industry
To ensure comprehensive stakeholder input, FEAST Global developed a mobile-friendly digital survey allowing all members of the Georgia pecan industry to share their insights and needs regarding the Indian market. This feedback is crucial for tailoring our approach and recommendations to the industry's specific requirements and ultimately gaining their buy-in and enthusiasm to support the next steps recommendations of the final report.
In-Country Market Research in India
Our executive team conducted in-country interviews with buyer-side stakeholders across several Indian cities, including Pune, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Chennai. These interviews, held in April 2024, provided an excellent data set of firsthand insights into the Indian market's potential for Georgia pecans.
Given India’s booming health food market, rapid population growth, and robust economy, this project is particularly timely. We aim to identify win-win partnerships between Georgia pecan suppliers and India’s fast-growing food manufacturing sector, capitalizing on the recent tariff reduction and the available supply of Georgia pecans seeking new market channels.
Deliverables and Timeline
The project is slated for completion by the end of summer 2024. Our comprehensive report will summarize all gathered data and insights, and we will provide a supplier-friendly presentation deck outlining research findings and recommended next steps. This deliverable will equip Georgia pecan producers with the information and strategies they need to succeed in the Indian market.
USDA's Emerging Markets Program (EMP)
The USDA Emerging Markets Program (EMP) is a vital resource for U.S. organizations seeking to promote agricultural exports to developing market-oriented economies. The EMP provides cost-share funding for various technical assistance activities, including feasibility studies, market research, sector assessments, orientation visits, specialized training, and business workshops.
FEAST Global’s proficiency in navigating the EMP’s funding applications and executing successful projects makes us an ideal partner for commodity groups looking to explore new markets. The EMP supports generic U.S. agricultural commodities, ensuring broad-based industry benefits rather than individual company gains.
